A freelance makeup artist is an independent professional who works for themselves rather than being employed by a salon, parlour or academy. You book the person, not a slot — the same artist does your trial, plans your timing, and applies your makeup on the day. They carry their own kit, set their own rates, and travel to you. In Hindi-language searches this is the same thing as "freelance makeup artist kya hota hai": an artist who is self-employed rather than salon-employed.

Roughly ₹6,000 – ₹15,000 for a party or guest look and ₹25,000 – ₹50,000 for bridal at the emerging end; ₹18,000 party and ₹65,000+ bridal at the senior end, where we sit; and ₹1.5 lakh upward for celebrity-tier names. A freelancer is not automatically cheaper than a salon — what changes is that the fee buys one specific person's time rather than a slot in a rota.

For a wedding, usually yes — but for the scheduling more than the artistry. A salon booking gives you whoever is on shift, no trial continuity, and a fixed chair you have to travel to at a fixed time. A freelance artist plans the chair time backwards from your ceremony, comes to you, and carries the whole history of your trial. For a single guest look on a normal evening, a good salon is perfectly fine and often cheaper.

Six questions worth asking anyone in Delhi: How many full weddings have you personally completed, not assisted? Is the trial included or extra? Who actually applies my makeup on the day — you, or an assistant? What is the advance, and is it refundable if my date moves? Is Delhi NCR travel inside the quote or added later? And can I see unedited photographs, not just Instagram grid shots? An artist who is uncomfortable with any of those is telling you something.

Almost all of them do, and it is our default. We carry the full kit, a daylight-balanced ring light and a folding chair; you need a table near a plug point and about two square metres. At-home service covers all of Delhi plus Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
